I hope all of you have seen the JINNY BEYER STUDIO 2016 Block of the Month, Cosmos. This is a FREE program available to anyone who is subscribed to our monthly newsletter.
Two blocks were introduced in January along with general instructions. Many techniques are used each month including making and printing templates, the importance of grain line, hand piecing and more.
Each newsletter, which comes out the first Saturday of the month, will have a link to the pattern download for that month’s block. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter. Look for our next newsletter this Saturday, February 6, to download the next (and past) patterns.
Besides the link to the patterns on the download page, did you notice the link which says, “Important Notes from Jinny”? Make sure you don’t miss this. Each month, we will refer to videos or quilt tips on our web site that will help you with the techniques in that month’s lesson. This page has all of the tips for making Cosmos in one spot.
The blocks become more difficult as the months go on. In the past, some worried that their blocks were not turning out the correct size. Don’t worry! At the end, we will add strips around each block and they can be trimmed to exactly the right size.
As I try to do with many of my BOM programs, I want to challenge you to try new things, learn new skills, attempt techniques you’ve shied away from in the past, all to build your confidence as a quilter. I think you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.

I enjoyed making the first two blocks of Cosmos and looking forward to this months block. Thank you Jinny for your time and generosity to give us this free BOM which is absolutely beautiful. I also enjoyed making the last BOM, such beautiful fabric and baskets. I thought I wouldn’t like foundation piecing but am so glad I persevered and now do many blocks with this new to me piecing; thank you Jenny for the introduction.

Just bought the kit and although I downloaded the BOM’s, I forgot to check and open the links for the fabric selections information. Is there any way you can email that to me or do I have to wait for the March newsletter?

I have started on this, quite a challenge! Is there any way of getting help/suggestions? Like pressing guidance? I’m getting a lot of bulk and I’m only on block 1!
Press from the top, the seams will find a direction that works best. We also have lots of helpful tips and lessons on our website here.

No, you can sign up anytime. The newsletter goes out the first Saturday of each month and there you will find information on the current block as well as links to any previous blocks you may have missed. You can sign up here.
