June has arrived and so have the cicadas in northern Virginia – we even have an upcoming web special inspired by these unique little creatures. We are also excited to announce in this newsletter that many of Jinny’s patterns can now be purchased as downloads to save you on shipping costs.
Have you had a chance to try the brand new John James Signature Collection needles? Jinny loves them and we hope that you do too! This newsletter also gives a little insight into how Jinny chooses designs to quilt her quilts.
In April’s newsletter, we show you a brand new quilt design, Desert Star that uses the beautiful Sonoran Spring pre-cut bundle. We also revisit Migrations which is a beautiful foundation pieced table topper.
This month we introduce you to a new quilt that utilizes the Sonoran Spring bundle and we re-introduce you to a forever classic quilt, Moon Glow. We also have a new section of the newsletter to “get to know Jinny Beyer.”
As many of you are aware, fabric collections have been delayed due to the pandemic so Jinny takes this newsletter to give you an update on her pandemic tree and introduce you to the newest grand bundle, Sonoran Spring. We also have some exciting web specials coming your way soon so stay tuned!
Although the past year was quite different for most of us, we have hope that this year will bring us renewed strength and the end of this awful pandemic. In this month’s newsletter, we revisit a classic quilt pattern and learn some tips on designing with and piecing diamonds.
As we wind down 2020, there is hope on the horizon. One thing many of us have done lately is to look at all we can be grateful for in our lives. Here at the Studio, we would like to thank all of you, our customers. We are so grateful that you have hung in there with us as we went through this year of many changes in our business. Thank you for continuing to support us.
November has been a bit different this year as many of us are staying home, finishing up UFOs and maybe making lots of holiday gifts for friends and family. At the Studio we are looking into the archives and re-exploring some quilts that Jinny created awhile back. This month our attention goes to Labyrinth. Read on to find out more.
Fall has arrived and we all just love those rich colors that come with it! Look for a new autumn bundle as a weekly web special, inspired by the beautiful tree in the opening of this month’s newsletter. We also received Jinny’s Malam VIII batik collection which includes often hard to find brights and lights.
Although we have adjusted quite well to our new space, we do apologize for the frequent shipping delays, thank you all so much for your continued support and patience as we work to get caught up on orders. This month we received a fun new book in stock by Ricky Tims. This book is for the readers of all ages!
We have survived the move! Now that we are all settled in our new space, Jinny will have the opportunity to bring you more online videos, including expanding on the border print lessons that we bring you each month. This month we also released the new Colvin Run Mill mini quilt which is a fun small project that we think you will enjoy making.
With the news last month of the studio mail order business moving, be on the lookout for many upcoming sales and web specials as we need to clean out! This month’s border print lesson is the second part in the diamonds series, be sure to check it out along with all my other tutorials on my YouTube channel.
This month we shared the news that I will not be retiring but I will in fact be closing my retail shop. Our internet business will continue and, in August, we will move to a new location just down the street better suited to the mail-order business. You can read my entire letter to our customers here.
We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. This month Jinny shows us how to create border print triangles with a new video lesson. We also have some projects to try out this new technique including a Christmas tree skirt in case you want to get a jump start on holiday planning!

Jinny’s instructional videos for past block of the month quilts, Kyoto and Stellaris are now available for free on our YouTube channel. The ever popular Stained Glass Star is a great quilt to try your hand at some new techniques.
Welcome to a new year! What are your new year’s resolutions? Start a quilt? Learn to quilt? Learn new skills? We are here to help! Starting this month, we have released some bright beautiful new color in the Denim collection. In addition, we will be giving lessons on border prints throughout the year, we hope you will follow along with us.
The end of the year is always so much fun and the holidays are in full swing. The Studio is decorated with holiday stockings and we have lots of projects for all types of sewers…as well as gifts for family and friends. Jinny has some upcoming trips that she introduces in this newsletter along with a video tip on applying borders to quilts.
This month we shared the newest Malam batik collection. The seventh in the Malam series, this collection includes a full spectrum of colors in all new patterns. We are also excited to showcase a new quilt design called Seville. Utilizing fabrics from the Andalucia collection, this quilt is designed for all types of quilters.
October is always such a busy yet fun month with Quilters’ Quest and Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. This month, we are excited to introduce a new collection that is quite different than the rest, Andalucía. Click to learn more and watch a video about the inspiration behind this stunning collection.
The Fall is always such a great time of year as we begin to plan for our big shop events. At the end of September we have our Anniversary sale – in shop and online. In October we are having our Quilters’ Quest with this year’s theme being books. We hope to see you real soon.
It may be hot outside but we have lots of fun projects this month for you to work on inside in the cool air conditioning! Two classics have been reintroduced in a variety of color ways, a new bundle is available that has endless possibilities and of course if you are working on the technique of the month, Stellaris, lesson #5 is ready to view.
We are so excited to share with you this month a project that has been in the works. Jinny recently collaborated with Judy and Judel Niemeyer on their redesign of the gorgeous Flowers for My Wedding Ring quilt. We have some new classes in the shop this summer so we hope that you can stop by to see all that is new.
Having just returned home from a nice visit with her family, Jinny is busy at the shop preparing for all the travelers this summer that will be stopping by the shop for Row by Row 2019. It’s Christmas in June as Aruba holiday has arrived meaning kits for Stellaris in this colorway are also now available for purchase. It’s not too late to sign up for the monthly newsletter to receive access to this free monthly technique quilt along.
May is always a busy month around the shop as we prepare for the Row by Row shop hop and begin preparations for Quilters’ Quest in the fall. Check out this month’s newsletter to find out what “spindle strips” are and also download a free pattern and watch a tutorial on my Harlequin Charm quilt.
This month we are so excited to launch the first technique lesson and video for Stellaris, available FREE to all monthly newsletter subscribers. We are also now carrying a brand new book entitled, American Cotton: Farm to Quilt, which tells the story of cotton in America and the fiber’s role in quiltmaking.
Filming has begun for the new Technique of the Month quilt, Stellaris, check out this newsletter to watch a preview of what is to come. Kits are available in most colors starting this month so you can quilt along with Jinny starting next month. This month we are ready for sunshine and warm weather with the release of the Aruba fabric collection. In addition, you can make the Aruba tote which is the perfect size for carrying all your essentials with your retreat on the beach. Sounds like fun to us!
We start the new year off with color – a new quilt using Palette Pixies – Toast and Jam – yummy and some fun web specials to keep you busy in the winter months!
