Jinny designed the Fourth of July Star quilt using a block from her latest book. The block dates back to the thirties, but it looks fresh and contemporary in this patriotic quilt.
The quilt is sewn from star units and strip-pieced section, and assembled using straight and set-in seams.
Finishes 55″ x 55″ (small), 73″ x 73″ (large).

In the original pattern, the strip-set diagrams on page 2 showed that the segments should be cut so that they are a scant 5¼” in length. This is correct. However, because they are cut on a 45° angle, it is more helpful to use the measurement that would be on quilter’s ruler when the 45° line is aligned along the stripset: 3-3/8″. The diagrams and Step 2 instructions have been updated to reflect this clarification.
